Everyone has their favorite, for us it is the 8X43 in green. For low light birding, this is the one to choose. An exit pupil of 5.4mm covers all scenarios of poor light birding, right down to near darkness.
Typical of the Hawke product signature. User friendly, easy to handle, well balanced, optically embarrassing for many much higher priced binoculars available, and aesthetically attractive.

If you are looking for highly acclaimed, stylish binoculars - your search is over!
Hawke optics display an obvious repeatable pattern, in that the range of models are always amongst the very best, if not the best products in their price bracket. At the price of the Frontier ED 43 models (both 8X and 10X), there is little else to recommend as having a superior optical performance to them. Both models are excellent in low light, (even the 10X43 has an exit pupil of 4.3mm). The Frontier ED 43 models are hand-fillers. That is to say they are not too slim-line that they feel loose and insignificant in gloved hands, and not too broad that they require small hands to stretch the fingers to reach the focus wheel. This means for rapid use birding and wildlife observation, they are the right shape, so much so that walking around our test reserve in North Yorkshire, it was soon noticed that the hands were clasped permanently around them whilst they hung round the neck. This is a measure of their comfort, they simply feel right. As a high quality phase corrected roof prism birding binocular, if your budget is <£350, the Frontier 8X43ED or 10X43ED is the recommended choice.
