The telescope's large aperture and compact body make it ideally suited for astrophotography of nebulae, star clusters and comets. The use of the optional coma corrector allows for a sharp coma-free image from edge to edge and the rack and pinion focuser, with an adapter, accepts 2” eyepieces.
The R200SS is supplied with 232mm tube rings, dovetail tube plate and a focus design that allows plenty of distance for photographic equipment.
The Vixen dual speed focuser is included as standard.
Aluminium Vacuum Evaporation System
Vixen has created a unique aluminium vacuum evaporation system to produce extremely precise mirror surfaces. More accurate than the error-prone process of grinding material to form a mirror surface, Vixen's revolutionary system works by controlled layering of aluminium film. The primary mirrors in the unique sixth-order aspheric Cassegrain fitted to the VC200L as well as the 200mm Newtonian R200SS are produced using this aluminium vacuum evaporation system.

77237 Corrector PH for R200SS
Designed for Vixen's R200SS Newtonian Reflector telescope. The “Corrector PH” is an unprecedented corrector lens system which is designed to eliminate aberration from parabolic mirror surface. The corrector delivers sharp pinpoint star images to the edge of the field of view. A Wynne type 3-element in 3- group optical design corrects coma aberration for parabolic mirrors. A broad 44mm diameter circle, which covers a 36mm x 24mm full frame DSLR, and delivers sharp images over the entire imaging field. A large 50mm aperture lens allows for ample edge of field illumination. The same anti-reflective AS coatings, which are used in Vixen's high end VSD 100f/3.8 Astrograph, are used to take advantage of 99.9% superb high light transmission. Loss of light and ghost flare images are eliminated due to the complete matte finish inside the corrector.
