The Omni XLT 150R is the largest aperture refractor in the Omni series. As a low and medium power deep-sky telescope the 150R produces excellent images with high contrast. This refractor has a relatively short focal ratio so it performs at its best as a wide-field refractor. This telescope can be also be used successfully as a white light solar telescope with the addition of a full aperture solar filter. The German equatorial mount is simple to use with smooth slow motion controls, and optional single or dual axis motors can be added for tracking in RA. Astrophotography is easily accomplished by placing a digital SLR at the telescope focus, attaching a compact camera over the eyepiece, or a webcam in place of the eyepiece.
For the moon and planets at higher powers, use the Omni 2X Barlow lens and the Baader 31.7mm Semi APO Filter. This permits an even better image quality of the lunar limb, and image features on or near planetary edges. Use the same combination of Barlow and filter when using a webcam for lunar and planetary imaging.
